My sense of values is falling out of place.
A tank of petrol used to be cheap, and other things were denominated by that.
We used to have a nice meal out and that was more than a tank and so expensive. It is now quite easy to eat out for less than a tank of petrol and so it must be getting cheaper mustn't it?
